One of the most important things to do with your site is connecting it to a domain you own.
If you haven’t purchased a domain yet, and you’re having trouble choosing a domain name, check out this blog post: Build Credibility by Choosing a Good Domain Name
Once you’ve bought your domain from a registrar (NameCheap, IONOS, Google Domains, etc.) this tutorial will show you the settings you’ll use to set up your domain with your website.
The different domain registrars have different interfaces, and sometimes use different terminology, but here is what you’ll need for your domain to work.
DNS Settings
First, add a DNS record, the record type is CNAME, the name will be ‘www‘ and the data or content will be wp.wpenginepowered.com
Next, you’ll need to set up your domain so that the root domain redirects to ‘www’. This may also be called domain forwarding, and the process can vary quite a bit depending on where you bought your domain. What needs to happen is ‘example.com’ redirects to ‘www.example.com’ where example.com is your domain.
We’d be happy to set this up for you, and setting up your domain is included with your plan’s setup. If you’d like us to help you set things up please fill out this form:
